December 7, 1928: Happy 85th birthday, Noam Chomsky! The philosopher is recognized as one of the fathers of modern linguistics. He has at least one namesake—a chimpanzee who was the subject of a Columbia University study on animal language acquisition was called Nim Chimpsky.
